360Lens

Overview

HoloLens 2-Based Pre-Surgical Planning Tool for Hip Replacement.

The Story

360Lens is a HoloLens 2 tool that helps surgeons plan hip replacements before they ever step into the operating room. You load a patient's own data straight into the headset, no extra hardware needed. From there, it works out the movement angles that should give the patient the best range of motion after surgery.

A hip replacement comes down to angles. The implant has to sit at the right rotation and position, because that is what decides how well the patient moves afterwards.

The problem is that the operating room is a difficult place to judge an angle. There is blood in the way. It obscures the surgeon's view of the very landmarks they need to line up against, at exactly the moment those landmarks matter.

So 360Lens moves the measuring to a point where nothing is in the way. The surgeon works through the implant angles on the patient's own anatomy, in 3D, before the first incision. By the time they scrub in, the numbers are already worked out.

The plan lives in the headset, hands free, with the patient's data loaded directly. No carts and no extra kit in a room that does not have space for any.
